Bank Note Place is a 112 unit loft condominium conversion located in the heart of the South Loop. SMNG-A was asked to complete Phase I design for the project after initial design work had stalled.  After Phase I work was completed, SMNG-A continued with the completion of Phase II. The project is composed of three buildings that wrap around a private landscaped courtyard at street-level.  A new underground parking garage is below the courtyard. Three floors were added to the existing north building, and a new building was inserted at west end of the courtyard, carefully blending contemporary design with the original building’s historic features. Unit plans vary from deep studio with borrowed light bedrooms to penthouse duplex homes with expansive outdoor terraces.  Phase I of the project was named loft development of the year by New Homes/Loft Living Magazine.
