The Mandeville Wharf Lofts was built within the ruin of three buildings that formerly housed Chef Paul Prudhomme's "Cajun Magic" spice warehouse in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The project's design approach employed selective subtractions and additions to the existing building. The remains of the former place, along with the new interventions were allowed to read within the rich text of the neighborhood, site and building details. Covered walkways, balconies and overlooks were added to this ensemble to weave all levels and parts of the complex together.
In 1993 Mandeville Wharf Lofts received a City of New Orleans preservation Award and Chicago Chapter AIA Distinguished Building Award.
