SMNG-A is the PBC elementary school design architect for the “Modern Schools Across Chicago” program that will build new elementary schools in Chicago valued at over $600 million in construction. New schools are “test fit” for various site solutions in L,C and linear geometries. The new schools are based on Chicago Public School (CPS) standards and sustainable design concepts that CPS is asserting and to meet its educational mission. The Design solutions are then transferred to an architect-of- record, selected by the Public Building Commission. SMNG-A monitors and reviews progress drawings for each school. SMNG-A is also the architect-of- record for three of the proposed schools, Langston Hughes Elementary School, Mark T. Skinner Elementary School, and Avondale/Irving Park Area Elementary School.
