INFANT WELFARE SOCIETY CLINIC
Infant Welfare Society Clinic re-purposed the former Kimbell Trust and Savings Bank Building into a community primary healthcare facility. The 31,000 square foot former bank building was expanded to 39,000 SF within its original boundaries by filling in the second level of the old banking floor and a partial third floor addition.
SMNG A prepared needs assessment, building programming, and property evaluation services prior to the purchase of the bank building. A general contractor was engaged by the owner to provide pre-construction services to maintain the project budget while fast-tracking on an accelerated schedule. IWS Clinic opened on time and on budget. The building subsequently obtained Chicago landmark status in 2008. The IWS Clinic achieved LEED Silver under the USGBC LEED program.
